Nairobi, Kenya | THE INDEPENDENT | As pressure mounts from youth for reforms in his government, Kenyan President William Ruto is this afternoon enganging Genetration Z on X, formerly Twitter to, explain his policies. A record number of people are expected to log in to a Space organised by the presidetinal team 2pm to 5pm.

Minutes to the Space, Ruto announced several reforms will be made, including a change in his cabinet.

He announced live on TV that 47 state corporations will be dissolved, he suspended planned positions of CAS, removed the budget line for office of the First lady, spouse of deputy president and chief minister, and said all those above 60 in the civil service will be retired immediately. He also suspended purchase of new government vehicles.

The Kenyan government has already been forced to reorganize the budget following the withdrawal of the Finance Bill 2024, which sparked protests across the country in the past three weeks.
