ANT candidate cleared to contest in Kigulu South MP race

The party led by Muntu got a boost in Kigulu with nomination of their candidate

Iganga, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT |  The Alliance for National Transformation-ANT flag bearer in the Kigulu South Parliamentary race, Ali Muyinda, has been cleared to contest after his academic documents were verified by the Uganda National Examinations Board- UNEB. 

Two weeks ago, the commission refused to nominate Muyinda due to lack of an A’ level certificate or its equivalent.

Muyinda however, presented the East African Advanced Certificate of Education- EAACE but was again tasked to verify the same with UNEB before he is nominated.

Mercy Ataho, the Iganga District Returning Officer says that Muyinda came for nomination on the last day and there was no time to verify his academic documents.

Ataho stresses that Muyinda held a meeting with the electoral commission officials on 19th, October who cleared him to verify his academic documents with UNEB and in turn process his nomination within 14 days.

On Monday, he was nominated by the Electoral Commission. Muyinda says that, if elected, he will offer an effective representation of all people irrespective of their social, religious and political affiliations.

Muyinda joins a list of 13 others who will contest for the parliamentary seat.
