Balaam Barugahara and Dr Omona appointed ministers

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | President Yoweri Museveni has appointed music promoter Balaam Barugahara and his former personal assistant Dr Kenneth Omona as ministers.

President Yoweri Museveni Thursday night made changes to cabinet, bringing in Balaam Barugahara as State minister for Youth and Children affairs, Lilian Aber appointed minister for state for relief and disaster preparedness, and Dr Kenneth Omona  as the State Minister for Northern Uganda Affairs, with Asio Omaswa taking over his position as the Principal Private Secretary to the President.

Dropped are the Ministers for Karamoja Mary Goretti Kitutu and Agnes Nandutu, plus defence minister Vincent Ssempijja who becomes a presidential advisor. Also missing in the new cabinet are Kwiyuwinyi Grace Freedom and Harriet Ntabaazi.

“The appointment is a vote of confidence in me on behalf of my first unit, MK Army, the MK Movement now Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Bunyoro, and the patriotic youth of Uganda. It is also an appointment for the art industry (artists and promoters) and the business community of Uganda. I exceedingly thank my role model and Uganda’s next President, Gen Kainerugaba, for identifying, training, mentoring, deploying, and entrusting me to be his Deputy in the whole of Western Uganda, ” Balaam said.
