Hoima, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The outgoing Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Samuel Kahuma has rallied the top leadership of the Anglican Church to improve the welfare of Church Ministers.

Bishop Kahuma observes that the welfare of most Church ministers is wanting; they do not have decent housing, no means of transport and some cannot afford to take their children to school.

He was addressing Journalists at St Peter’s Convention grounds in Hoima on Friday evening, as he bid farewell to Christians in the Diocese.

Bishop Kahuma also tasked Church leaders to jealously guard Church land, some of which has been grabbed and the rest at the risk of being encroached upon. He says that a chunk of the Church land is not titled, and this is a great risk.

Kahuma also challenged Church leaders to ensure that Christians work towards the economic and social transformation of their families by setting up income-generating projects, promoting the people’s integral development and fighting against poverty,

He says that when people are rich, the church will also be rich.
