Embattled Bridge International Academies have been dragged to the Kampala High Court by human rights watchdog Legal Brains Trust Ltd for alleged violation of children’s rights when it operated pre-primary and primary education without a license.

The NGO contends that the Bridge schools continued to operate despite inadequate sanitation and buildings which put the lives of the affected pupils at health risks. Legal Brains also wants court to compel the schools to submit in court a list of names and addresses of their pupils and tuition charged.

Documents before court shows that the schools have been misrepresenting themselves as registered licensed schools by the ministry of education whereas not.

In August this year, the Ministry of Education directed that all the 63 campuses of Bridge International be closed after finding that the school did not meet the required academic standard.

The ministry’s decision was upheld by High Court Judge Patricia Basaza early this month.
