An incomplete building, referred to as Kyaseka Towers on Makerere Hill Road, Monday afternoon collapsed, burying several people. Three people are reported to have died.
Police and locals are trying to rescue those buried in the rubble in the incident just outside Makerere University, close to the CBD of Kampala.

The building, that is about 100 meters from the popular Ham Towers, was clearly not complete, but was being rented by several people.
“I was at Ham Towers. It was like an earthquake” an eye witness who shared photographs with The Independent said.
A mechanic from a garage next door, said that cracks had been spotted earlier. He said “the engineer for the building came to see the problem, and went back to get a solution but was not back in time to save it from collapsing.”

The semi finished building had various tenants and though some had tried to shift earlier on, most of the offices were still being used, and were covered with the debris.
Although it could not be confirmed, the mechanics said the building belongs to businessman Moses Seruwu.
