Bukedea, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Jackson Osire alias Emelekoit, a meat trader in Bukedea town is in trouble for attempting to kill the Kide cell LCI chairperson for an unknown reason. Emelekoit is currently locked up at Bukedea Central Police Station.

Preliminary findings indicate that Emelekoit stormed the residence of his brother, Patrick Odeke, who also doubles as the LCI chairperson and called him to come out in vain. Enraged with anger, Emelekoit untied one of the bulls belonging to the chairman and slaughtered it in front of the door to the house.

On Wednesday morning, Odeke and the residents woke up to the shock of the incident. They involved the police, which deployed a sniffer dog to hunt down the assailants.

Abdallah Madudu, the Kide ward LC2 chairperson, said upon visiting the scene, they resolved to involve the police to ascertain the attacker, whom he notes was not in the picture by the time of the incident.

“This is the first time for such an incident to happen in this area. However, what hurts more is that the LC1 was being hunted by his own brother,” he said. Odeke told our reporter that he was surprised by his brother’s attempts to end his life.

“I have never quarreled with my brother to the extent of planning to end my life. I survived by the Grace of God. By slaughtering my bull in front of my door, I can only imagine the extent of his anger towards me,” he said.

Ediga Akangkwatsa, the Bukedea District Police Commander confirmed Emelekoit’s arrest but notes that investigations into the matter have only started to provide details.
