Kampala, Uganda | JULIUS BUSINGE | President Yoweri Museveni will be among the 1,000 participants for the 2017 Mineral Wealth Conference taking place from Sept. 4-5 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Speaking to journalists in Kampala today (Sept. 26), Elly Karuhanga, the president of Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum – the conference organizers, said they are ready for the event that would run under the theme; “Minerals knocking on the door for economic transformation of Uganda.”
Karuhanga said that the conference will be used as an avenue to create awareness on the role of minerals in fighting poverty in Uganda. The key topics of discussion during the conference will rotate around development mining, cement industry issues, the role of development partners, minerals processing and value addition, finance, insurance for mineral sector and relevant infrastructure and more. Karamoja sub-region’s mineral potential will also be discussed in detail during the conference.
Participants would come from Uganda and abroad.
