Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | In the typical con artist meets investor that has become routine in Uganda, a Chinese tycoon was conned of billions of shilling in a scam
where he was sold Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) by some unscrupulous Ugandans.
The Chinese investor ran to the government newspaper New Vision to vent his ordeal where he handed over millions of dollars to obtain the company meant to champion Uganda’s business interests in the oil sector.
The scam has attributed to the rise of Chinese investors in Uganda who are given royal treatment and as a result have become targets by assailants, conmen, and all kinds of dealers in Uganda.
