Buganda Road Court Grade One magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu will rule on November 8 whether former Old Kampala police station DPC Joram Mwesigye has an assault case to answer.

Prosecution’s Patrica Cingitho says she has closed her case with seven witnesses and what is left is for court to weigh this evidence and determine if DPC Mwesigye should also be put on his defence.

The officer has since January this year been battling charges of battering and injuring a TV journalist Andrew Lwanga on top of damaging his camera during a demonstration by poor youths in Kampala.

Lwanga still moves with support from crutches due to spinal injuries allegedly sustained from Mwesigye’s beatings.

Lwanga told journalists shortly after the court that he still fears for his life as he has received several threats from people he did not name. He says they trail his movements.
