Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT & PROSSY NANSUBUGA | Uganda’s COVID-19 confirmed cases have jumped to 889 , with 11 of them from a group of 91 that returned in the past week from Afghanistan. The returnees from Afghanistan are all under quarantine.
Results from 2,170 samples tested on 29 June 2020 confirm 19 new COVID-19 cases, with 11 of them from the returnees. Uganda’s COVID-19 recoveries are now at 819.
The other confirmed cases are communal, 7 from Amuru and 1 from Kyotera districts, according to a statement from Director General of Health services Dr. Henry Mwebesa.
Meanwhile, a total of 25 foreign truck drivers (15 Kenyans, 7 Tanzanian, 2 Egyptians and 1 Burundian) all who tested positive for Covid-19 have been returned to their respective countries.
Uganda has still not registered a death as a result of corona virus.
