The stakes are high now, much higher than the Elgon Cup! Rugby Cranes head to Nairobi on Thursday for a do or die game against the Kenya Simbas.

The tie is the Africa Rugby Tier 1A duel, and also doubles as the Elgon Cup return leg.
Kenya annihilated the Cranes in  the first leg in Kampala 48-10, comfortably establishing a sailing lead.

Unlikely the Cranes can come back from that to retain the Elgon Cup. All sights and focus now are on the other side of the coin, the Rugby Africa.

Vice captain Michael Wokorach confirms it’s the strategy of the entire team to beat Kenya to second spot of the elite Tier 1A.

Zimbabwe was demoted to 1B last weekend after they fell to the Cranes in Bulawayo. Defending African champions Namibia remain top of the table after beating both Uganda and Kenya.

Coming second means next year Uganda gets to host two games, giving them advantage playing before a thunderous home crowd.

By all accounts this will be a pound-for-pound duel between the archrivals
