Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | President Yoweri Museveni has appointed former defence minister and ambassador to China, Dr. Crispus Walter Kiyonga, as the new Chancellor of Makerere University.
Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor, confirmed Kiyonga’s appointment on X.
Dr. Crispus Kiyonga replaces Professor Ezra Suruma who retired this position in 2023.
“His Excellency the President of Uganda has appointed Dr. Crispus Kiyonga as the new Chancellor of Makerere University. On behalf of Makerere University Council, I extend our warm congratulations to Dr. Kiyonga on this prestigious appointment and warmly welcome him to the service of Makerere University,” said Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe on X.
