Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda has officially taken over as the Ministry of Education and Sports Permanent Secretary, following her recent appointment.
The First Lady of Uganda and the Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, congratulated Dr. Turyagyenda on her new role, expressing confidence in the ministry’s ability to provide a secure and supportive learning environment for students despite challenges posed by the Red-Eye outbreak and recent cases of monkeypox.
“I congratulate Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda on her appointment as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education. I thank Dr. Jane Egau Okou, the Under Secretary in the Ministry who served in the acting position, for her contributions. I have full confidence in her collaborative efforts with Dr. Turyagyenda,” Janet Museveni said.
“Despite the challenges, we remain committed to ensuring our students receive quality education,” she added.
Dr Turyagyenda replaces Ketty Lamaro, whose term of office was not renewed by President Yoweri Museveni.
Officials say that Dr. Turyagyenda brings extensive experience in education management to her new role. Her appointment is expected to bolster the ministry’s efforts in improving Uganda’s education sector, experts say.
They add that Dr. Turyagyenda’s dedication to education and her extensive experience make her a respected voice in Uganda’s education sector.
