KINSHASA | Xinhua | Eighteen heads of state, mainly from Africa, have confirmed their participation in the inauguration of the president-elect of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Felix Tshisekedi, the president’s high representative Serge Tshibangu announced on Thursday.
Two vice presidents, four former heads of state, and high-level foreign representatives have also confirmed their participation in the inauguration, which will be held here on Saturday, said Tshibangu.
According to him, the Martyrs Stadium of Kinshasa, where Tshisekedi will be sworn in for the second term, will be open to the public from 4 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) on Saturday.
In the general elections on Dec. 20, Tshisekedi secured a dominant 73.47 percent of the vote, while main opposition candidate Moise Katumbi trailed behind with 18.08 percent, according to the Constitutional Court of the DRC. ■
