PICTORIAL: Fika Salama, a campaign by Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and Uganda Police to improve road safety following harrowing road accidents in the past six months, has in the latest operation seen errant drivers in Nakasongola hit hard. According to photographs from Police, up to 56 vehicles have been impounded in Nakasongola during a 24 hour #FikaSalama crackdown.

Enforcement aside, Saturday morning saw the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) mark their annual road safety campaign activities at Buwama. The USPA annual road safety week activities commemorate the lives of journalists who passed away at Lugazi in 2001. The activities have been embraced by Uganda Police and UNRA as part of their FIKASALAMA campaign. USPA’s theme for this year is “Learn and Respect Road Signs.”
