In a rare episode in the fight against corruption, two officials in the Ministry of Finance were caught red handed taking bribes from investors. The move to arrest the two officials was a high profile operation involving President Museveni and Police chief Kale Kayihura. The President was tipped off by the Chinese investors about the two senior officials, Mike Ogor, an economist and Godfrey Turyabahika, who solicited for bribes from the investors to get a project related to the ministry kick started. Museveni commended the security agencies for the swift action they took by sealing off the offices of the Ministry of Finance for hours to corner the two suspects. Museveni said that the Ministries of finance and Public Service had become key culprits in the vice of taking bribes.
