Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Makindye West legislator Allan Ssewanyana has received a five day extension to submit his papers for the race of the presidency of the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA.
This stems from the legislator’s request to the FUFA Electoral Committee to grant him five more days to fulfill requirements to run for the position after failing to beat the May 26, 2021 deadline.
Mathias Bwiire, the FUFA Electoral Commission chairperson says that they have agreed to Ssewanyana’s request and given him five more days to fulfill the requirements.
Speaking to URN, Ssewanyana explained that he failed to meet the deadline because of the new guidelines requiring the aspirants to get the endorsement of FUFA staff and Chief Executive Officer-CEOs.
The incumbent FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, who is running for a third term successfully returned his nomination forms on Wednesday. He asked the Electoral College to give him mandate to run the Federation for the next four years.
Mathias Bwiire says that they will soon start reviewing the nomination forms and make a final decision before May 31st, 2021.
The elective 97th FUFA Ordinary General Assembly will be held on August 21st, 2021 at Wash and Wills Hotel in Mbale city.
