Bukedea, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Stephen Erone alias Ilodir, the chairperson of Kamutur Performing Artist Association in Bukedea district is in trouble for forgery and defrauding Shillings 10 million from Emyooga meant for the association.

He was picked up by directives from Bukedea Resident District Commissioner office to explain the circumstances under which he forged the signatures of the group members and obtained Shillings 10 million from the bank without the knowledge of the members.

Charles Ichogor, the Bukedea Deputy Resident District Commissioner says that his office received a complaint from Kamutur Performing Artist Association implicating their chairperson for the theft of their money.

He says that they summoned the accused and found that all the documents he used were forged.

“We had to summon and arrest him because the list and the names of members who are on the file he used to withdraw money is completely different and he has used up all the money alone,” said Ichogor.

Local music artist John Otai alias Overtime, says that Ilodir tasked each member to pay Shillings 120,000 as savings in order to benefit from the Emyooga funds which none of them has received.

Moses Godfrey Otim, the Emyooga focal point person says they operate under specific guidelines, adding that the money is seed capital. The suspect is locked up at Bukedea central police station.
