Gulu University Dean Christopher Mpora granted bail

Gulu, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Christopher Mitwale Mpora, the Gulu University Dean of Students has been granted bail.

Mpora was arrested on March 31, for alleged theft and uttering a false document. He was remanded to Gulu central prison until April 15th.

It is alleged that on June 15, 2020, at Centenary Bank branch in Gulu city, Mpora knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false document to wit a forged Centenary Bank Gulu branch withdrawal form of cash 3,550,000 shillings in the names of Goma Oil Ginnery, and that he stole the money belonging to Mildred Anena Alou.

Mpora and Anena opened a joint business of a petrol station called Goma Oil Ginnery in Koch –Goma sub county in Nwoya district.

On Thursday, Mpora was granted non-cash bail of Three Million Shillings by the Grade One Magistrate Christine Turibamwe.

Turibamwe cautioned Mpora to cease intimidating prosecution witnesses while out on bail and that he should not interfere with the court proceeding at any point.
