Lagos, Nigeria | Xinhua | A total of 1,192 people were killed and 3,348 others kidnapped in 2021 in a spate of attacks by gunmen who have been on the rampage in Nigeria’s northwestern state of Kaduna, according to official data released by Tuesday.
In a security report for the year 2021, the Kaduna government also confirmed that 891 people sustained varying degrees of injuries, while 45 victims, including 29 minors, were raped during the period under review.
The report, according to Samuel Aruwan, the state’s commissioner for internal security and home affairs, covered various attacks, including banditry, reprisal attacks, kidnapping, and cattle-rustling in the state.
Aruwan added several gunrunners were intercepted and arrested with arms and ammunition seized.
