A team from the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) delegation is in Uganda to confirm preparations for the World Cross Country Championships that will be held in Kampala yesterday.

The IAAF team will visit the official venue and hotels that will accommodate the world’s top athletics teams like Kenya, Russia, USA and Ethiopia.

“We are happy to host the delegation and Uganda is prepared to host the international event at Kololo. We have decided to fund activities in a way to promote our country,” Vice President Edward Ssekandi said after the team visited him.

On Monday, Ssekandi unveiled the Local Organizing Committee for the 41st IAAF WXCC Kampala 2017.
The global cross-country in March 2017 will mark a decade since it was last staged in Africa and will be the first time an IAAF World Athletics Series event to be held in Uganda.
