Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | China International Water and Electrical Corporation (CWE), the contractor of the 183MW Isimba Hydro power project is refurbishing old structures of Mbulamuti Primary School found in Kamuli district a few kilometers away from the site where dam construction is taking place.
Speaking at the commissioning of works event at the school on May 3, officials said the project will last three months. Wang Qiyuan, the deputy project manager for CWE, said they are refurbishing some classrooms and constructing three new [classrooms].
One of the classrooms will be a multimedia hall fully furnished and equipped with computers for pupils to use for information technology classes. “We hope our efforts will be appreciated,” Wang, who said the project would cost around Shs 700million, said.
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, who presided over as chief guest and the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited Chief Executive Officer, Harrison Mutikanga urged CWE to use local suppliers of cement, sand and labour for the project activities.
