Mbarara, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The construction of the Kakyeka War Memorial Stadium has encountered setbacks due to the missing land title.

While appearing before the District Public Accounts Committee on Thursday, David Muhwezi, the Chief Administrative Officer, said that when he took over the office from Edward Kasagara, he was given photocopies of land titles and upon verification, it was found that some of the original land titles including that of Kakyeka could not be traced from the registry.

The Chairperson of the District Public Accounts Committee Herbert Kamugisha ordered the arrest of Edward Kasagara. He also said that Kasagara should appear before the committee to explain the whereabouts of the title.

During last year’s 42nd Tarehe Sita Celebrations in Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara City President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni okayed the Uganda Peoples Defence Force and the National Housing and Construction (NHCC) to construct a Kilometer Perimeter wall around Kakyeka Stadium.

This was after the then Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi said they had reached a partnership agreement with NHCC to construct the perimeter wall noting that the cooperation will be charged with surveying, designing and providing materials to construct the perimeter wall.
