The Court of Appeal threw Kamuli Municipality MP Rehema Tiwuwe Watangola out of parliament due to lack of academic papers.
The court was upholding a decision by the High Court to order for fresh elections for Kamuli Municipality. The court ruling read “We fully concur with the trial court’s findings. The learned trial judge rightly found that the petitioner proved to the satisfaction of the court that the appellant did not possess the minimum requirement of A-level or its equivalent. Accordingly, she was not qualified to be nominated and to stand for election as MP for Kamuli municipality.” This gives a chance to former FDC Vice Chairman Salaamu Musumba to re-join parliament since she filed the petition.
