Mathew Kanyamunyu and his co-accused Joseph Kanyamunyu and Cynthia Munagwari have today been charged at Nakawa Magistrates court with the murder of Kenneth Akena in Kampala on November 12.
Grade One magistrate Noah Sajjabi did not allow the suspects to take plea as it is a capital offence only tried by the High Court. He remanded them to Luzira until December 6.

Mathew Kanyamunyu, the Chief Executive Officer of Quantum Logistics company, is the main suspect in the alleged shooting of Akena. He was the first to be detained soon after the fatal incident.
Akena was a Community Development Officer. According to the relatives, the deceased made a dying declaration while at Norvik Hospital where he had been rushed saying Kanyamunyu had shot at him after he scratched his car in the mall’s parking lot while reversing.
The issue has since attracted controversy especially on social media as both Kanyamunyu, who is also thought to be a state operative and his girlfriend Munagwari, whom he was with in the car have denied the accusation. Neither the killer gun nor the cartridges had been found.
