Nakawa Magistrates Court has sent back on remand key suspects in the Lugogo shooting of social worker Kenneth Akena Watmon.

Matthew Kanyamunyu, his girlfriend Cynthia Munywangari and his brother Joseph Kanyamunyu appeared in court today, but were told they will stay on remand until December  20 as investigations into their case continue.

The trio who are accused of murdering Akena, appeared before Grade One magistrate Noah Sajjabi after spending two weeks in Luzira Prison.

Prosecution alleges that on November, 12, on Kampala-Jinja highway near Malik car bond opposite Uganda Manufacturers Association in Nakawa Division, with malice aforethought, the accused persons, caused the death of Akena.

He was shot in the stomach, and died in hospital. Kanyanmunyu took the victim to hospital, but he claims he was just being a Good Samaritan, and was not the one who shot him.
