Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Japanese Hisae Koshiba and Dennis Kawalya were the Ladies and Men overall winners at the KCB sponsored Lady Captain’s Prize at the par 72 Kitante golf course on Saturday.
Koshiba, burnt the course with a brilliant round of 69 nett to beat a huge field of 230 golfers. She also won herself a ticket for two to travel to Kenya or South Africa for a holiday courtesy of Kenya Airways, one of the sponsors of the one day tournament.
The Lady Captain’s Prize, is a tournament organised by the Lady Captain of the club, Wendy Angudeyo, who was re-elected for a second term on the night the captain honoured past lady Captain’s including the Legend Alice Kego, who was in attendance at the prize giving ceremony.
Harriet Kitaka, was the Club Champion winner with Angudeyo, finishing runner up. Kitaka, claimed the prize in Group A, with 76 nett while Aidah Khamis, was the Lady B winner with a count back score of 74 nett.
Dennis Kawalya, was the overall Men’s winner with a return of 62 nett.
Dickson Kateshumba, who was representing the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, promised to support Golf in the country as they look to increase the budget for the sport at the same time look to cover an international tournament in the country.
Shalom Kayenje, was the Ladies winner in Group C with a score of 71 Nett on count back. Dickson Agaba, was the Men’s Group A winner with 71 nett on count back with David Batanda, winning Group B with 68 nett while Samson Akanziza, swept Group C with 66 nett.
The Senior Ladies prizes went to Juma Shamim and Tushar Doshi with 75 and 71 nett respectively the Guest Winner was Tarit Kimtai with 64 nett.
The tournament was sponsored by KCB Bank Uganda, Case Medical Services, Kenya Airways, NBS Sport, Crown Beverages Limited, White Cap Crisp, Wandaz, Gorilla Heights Lodge, Orchard Interiors.
