Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police have arrested a man who killed his wife and the housemaid he was caught raping.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire has identified the suspect as Shaban Musisi, a resident of Kasenge village in Kyengera town council of Wakiso district, who killed his wife Ruth Nakkazi and the housemaid she caught him raping, Scovia Abed, today.
Police preliminary findings have indicated that Shaban Musisi was in the process of raping his housemaid, Scovia Abed, 15 years old, who made an alarm that attracted Ruth Nakkazi, the suspect’s wife who arrived and started fighting with the husband.
Shaban reached for a hammer and hit the wife several times until she died and later turned it onto Scovia who also succumbed to the injuries.
According to police detectives at Nsangi police station, after the incident, Musisi fled to a nearby bush but was later found by community members in a critical condition after taking what was suspected to be poison in a bid to commit suicide after committing the gruesome murders.
“A bottle containing suspected poison has been recovered in his house and subsequently forwarded to the Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis,” said Owoyesigyire. “The hammer used to batter the victims to death has been recovered and taken as an exhibit.”
Police said the two bodies have been conveyed to Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for postmortem. The suspect is currently admitted at Mulago hospital where he is undergoing treatment in police handcuffs.
