Man stabs brother to death over land dispute

Nakaseke, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police in Nakaseke district has arrested a resident of Mizimbo village for stabbing his brother to death over a land wrangle.

The deceased has been identified as Sait Kijjambu, a resident of Mizimbo village in Kapeeka sub-county who was allegedly stabbed to death by his young brother Miidu Ssemyalo Ssanyu, a resident of the same village. The incident occurred at around 9:20 pm on Tuesday night.

Anselm Buyinza, the LC1 chairman of Mizimbo village says that Kijjambu attacked his young brother Ssanyu with a panga and they engaged in a quarrel over who should use the piece of land owned by their mother Restituta Namakula. But Ssanyu grabbed the panga from his brother and stabbed him in the stomach.

Kijjambu bled to death while Ssanyu was arrested and transferred to Kapeeka police station. Buyinza said the arrest was to partly save him from being lynched by angry residents.

Isah Ssemwogerere, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson said he was still waiting for a report from the officers investigating the incident.
