Mujib Kasule joins race for FUFA presidency

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT  |  The Director Proline FC and Ex-Uganda Cranes player Mujib Kasule has joined the race FUFA’s top job.

Mujib declared his bid at a press briefing at Mackinnon suits in Nakasero in Kampala on Tuesday afternoon. According to Mujib, he wants to lead the struggle to reclaim Uganda’s football glory.  

Mujib explained that he has enough experience to lead the Football governing body, the Federation of Uganda Football Association-FUFA having served as Vice President in the same Federation and club administrator. 

Article 39 of the FUFA statute provides that for one to stand for the position of FUFA President, he must be between 31 and 69 years of age and must have served Football for at least seven years. 

In his manifesto, Mujib pledges to priorities the domestic league, saying it is more important in developing players and should be allocated more resources.

He joins Allan Sewanyana, the Makindye West Member of Parliament, who announced his bid for the same position on Monday.

This is the second time Mujib is running for the same position after his failed bid in 2017 when he disqualified for alleged failure to comply with the election guidelines. 

The duo will face off with the incumbent FUFA president, Moses Magogo, who is eying another term of office.
