Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | President Museveni along with the Central Executive Committee (CEC), launched an audit into the party’s finances through a specialized committee.
Appointed during the latest CEC gathering held two weeks ago, the committee’s primary objective is to scrutinize the expenditures of all funds allocated to the party.
Heading the committee is former National Deputy Treasurer, Singh Katongole, who is joined by Hon. Huda Oleru, Minister of State for Defence, and Gadafi Nasur, Chairman of the NRM Youth wing.
Sources reveal that the committee is slated to convene for its inaugural meeting this week, during which key Secretariat figures will be summoned to clarify various concerns, notably regarding budget management and fund utilization.
Additionally, the committee will look into scrutinizing the party’s wage bill and assets.
“There is growing concern that the current administration of the NRM Secretariat which gets Shs 8.6 billion per quota, which translates to about Shs 36 billion per year has had nothing to show compared to the former Secretary General Kasule Lumumba administration, which only received Shs 8 billion per year,” a top party official who sits on the NRM CEC says.
