No money for LC elections, New EC Boss

During a Feb.10 meeting with the media, New Chairman of Electoral Commission Justice Simon Byabakama dispelled reports that the country will conduct LC 1 and 2 polls in March saying that the government has delayed to release funds. Byabakama who was unsure about when the elections will finally be held said to organize a free and fair election, his team needs certain resources in place which the government has not yet provided.

Earlier parliament had recommended that elections are held not later than Mar.15.
