Odur and Manyindo storm Rd 3 in Singleton Match Play Challenge

Entebbe, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Michael Odur and Brian Manyindo held their nerve before storming the third round of the Singleton Match Play Challenge at Entebbe Club on Saturday.

Odur and his partner were leading going into the last hole but their opponents Emmanuel Mugabi and Joseph Adrapi squared hole 18 to send the match to “sudden death” play.

Mugabi, got into trouble as his ball caught up between a tree and the rough, but he navigated his way out.

Manyindo sunk a monster putt on hole 1 to seal the match.

“It was a tense moment and we should have finished off business on the 18th hole,” Odur said. “We didn’t get our full bragging rights in this match, as our opponents just couldn’t give up we are glad to go through.”

In other tense matches Mark Namanya and his partner Simon Ocen won their match via “Sudden Death” on  Hole 2, beating Michael Moone and Henry Saka.

Season 2 winners Sheila Kesiime and Peace Amooti Kabasweka beat Peter Mujuni and his father Paul Katwiremu 1 up to keep their dream of winning Season 7 and becoming the first team to win for a second time.

Moses Ssebugwawo and Charles Odere beat Twinemanzi Tumubweine 1up.
