New Security Minister Lt.General Henry Tumukunde has promised to work with local authorities in order to improve information gathering.
“I plan to empower local authorities since there is government presence at all level. They will face their problems instead of bringing them to us. They are elected and paid to work as opposed to enjoying comfort,” he said.
“We encourage information sharing from the public and the press so that we process intelligence. Security issues are rigged and dockets must be categorically defined together.”
Tumukunde said this as outgoing Minister of Security Mary Karooro Okurut handed over to him on Wednesday.
