Only 200 to attend consecration of new South ruwenzori bishop

Rev. Alice Nabirye Mbusa told URN that all was set for the concecration of the new Bishop

Kasese, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT |Only 200 guests will grace the consecration and enthronement of the new South Ruwenzori Diocese Bishop on Sunday 13th. 

Rev. Nason Baluku was elected Bishop in August by the Church of Uganda-House of Bishops.

Baluku will succeed the Rt. Rev. Jackson Nzerebende, who has been the Bishop of the Diocese since 2003. Baluku is the 3rd Bishop of South Ruwenzori Diocese since its creation in June 1989 from the mother diocese of Fort Portal.

Rev. Alice Nabirye Mbusa the function’s publicity chairperson says that a few people have been invited to witness the ceremony on behalf of the larger catholic community across the diocese.

She added that the function which will be held scientifically due to the coronavirus restrictions will also be broadcast on various platforms including radio and social media. 

Mbusa hailed the support that has been offered by Christians from across the country towards the function.  She added that they were ready for the function. 

Moris Nzobindo who was found cleaning the cathedral’s compound on Friday said he was invited to witness the preparation of the function.  Though he will miss being part of the church event, he is hopeful to follow through the radio. 

The event will be presided over by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. DrStephen KaziimbaMugalu.
