Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Queen Elizabeth II of England has been making amazing revelations about her royal gems including how the State Crown is so heavy she risks breaking her neck when she wears it. As a result, she has to look straight up, even when reading speeches.

In a chatty interview, she also reveals how, during her Coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953, her elaborate gown got stuck on the carpet pile and for a moment she wasn’t able to move.

The interview is part of programmes to mark the 65th anniversary in June of her Coronation.
