Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Rotarians from district 9213 concluded the three-day 99th Rotary District Conference (Discon) last Saturday at Speke Resort Munyonyo in an award-winning dinner, bringing style and cheer to a blend.
The cheerful Rotarians also toasted to the new District Governor elect, Anne Nkutu from the Rotary Club of Naalya and bid farewell to the outgoing District Governor Edward Kakembo Nsubuga, courtesy of Uganda Breweries Limited under the WhiteCap Crisp and Johnnie Walker brands.
Speaking at the dinner, Anne thanked Rotarians for entrusting her with office and highlighted the need for more sustainable causes as she welcomed the incoming team.
Under the Great Gatsby theme, the dinner that doubled as the governor’s banquet was a showcase of fashion, appreciating flapper dresses, fascinators and body socks for the ladies and a black-tie affair for the men, with a few notable statement tailcoats in sight.
To sum up the splendid experience, popular musician Sheeba Karungi got the Rotarians on their feet to some of her popular hits, paving way for Bebe Cool’s Fire Anthem, Mbozi zamalwa and more, that brough the networking session to an end.
The 99th Discon was hosted by the Rotary Club of Kampala Ssese Island. Here is how the dinner went down.
