PICTORIAL: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, 73, and his family on Sunday celebrated 70 years of his Christian life at St. Luke Church Of Uganda, Kinoni in Mbarara where prayers and a fundraising were held.  Museveni said he was keen on the commemoration of his baptism day so that he would share his history, especially with the youth.  He revealed that his parents were pioneer Christians in an area that was then still predominantly aligned to traditional beliefs. “The foundation I got from the church has played a big role in what I have been able to do later in life, including being President. Religious instruction enables you to navigate through life. To know what is evil and what is right, and, if I had not come here, I dont think I would be President of Uganda. It has helped me in many ways,” Museveni said. The records at the church indicate that Museveni was baptised on August 3, 1947 by Rev. Eric Sabiiti, who later became Archbishop of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Boga Zaire.  The president said he his parent did not keep records of his early life, and was pleased to find the church had it well recorded. ” I am Surprised that the Church has preserved records for this long. These days there is poor record keeping,” Museveni said. ALL PHOTOS PPU

  1. Miraculously Museveni’s baptism date could turn out to be his date of birth. In that case he would be 74 years old in 2021 and therefore eligible to stand for President. Here’s to the life presidency, yippee…….?
