Alebtong, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A man in Alebtong district is on the run-in connection to the gruesome murder of his mother and disposing off her body in the family pit latrine. The suspect is Bryan Ongom, a resident of Agwit village, Alanyi Parish, Abako sub county in Alebtong district.
He reportedly hacked his 57-year-old mother Sophia Alwedo, a resident of Agwit village in the wee hours of Monday morning. It is alleged that the 26-year-old Ongom has been on bad terms with his parents, whom he accused of only providing for his young sibling.
He reportedly chased his brother with an axe last week with intentions of harming him. This prompted the clan leaders to convene an emergency meeting where Ongom was given several strokes of the cane. The suspect reportedly threatened to kill all his family members.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson, says that investigations into the matter are ongoing. “Alwedo was found dead but half-naked in the family’s pit latrine with several cut wounds on her head and had her mobile phone,” he said.
He revealed that a team of police detectives led by district CID visited the scene and have since opened a case vide CRB 26/2021 at Alebtong Central Police Station.
