Security seizes Kyagulanyi’s nomination documents, CCTV camera monitors

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT & URN | Police has raided the National Unity Party (NUP) offices in Kamwokya, and are searching through election documents.

NUP were holding a meeting of some of its top leaders when police arrived.

“The military, police and other security agencies have laid siege on the National Unity Platform Platform offices in Kamwokya. Several of our staff and leaders have been arrested. They are breaking into the different offices, taking all documents and other valuables,” said NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

The search is still on and it is not yet clear what police is looking for.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) later confirmed that several documents and items have been confiscated by security from their offices in Kamwokya today.

The party said documents, CCTV camera monitors and documents containing collected signatures required for the nomination of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu as the party presidential candidate were taken.

Police together with military police and Local defense Units personnel gained access to the NUP offices at around 11am when NUP officials were holding a presser.

  2. Petitions are welcomed because through them justice is made. One most test that Judges go through is being fair and unprejudiced in resolving disputes. The court must look and scrutinize the hearing basing on the entire electoral processes which begun a year before when the EC published the roadmap. All issues that transpired are key factors to the influence of either free dispensation or unleveled political grounds where one just predicts the outcomes. Where adjudication is based on the merely counted votes cast, it leaves a big gap in the road to political freedom, transparency, competency, accountability and justice. If previous Case Law is a benchmark to the 2021 case lodged, everyone has already predicted.
    I appeal to the Judges to pass better cases so that the lawyers in the making are given a picture they deserve.
