President Yoweri Museveni has this evening ordered the immediate closure of Makerere University until further notice. He said this is to guarantee safety of persons and property following a lecturers strike.
The lecturers have been on strike over unpaid allowances, and they were today joined by students who were demanding lectures. There was a clash most of today between the students and police who have sealed of the campus.
