A joint military operations centre has been opened in the western district of Kasese to follow up on activities of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
The formation of the joint follow up mechanism was among the key resolutions that were agreed upon by heads of state during the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region that took place in June last year. Col Henry Isoke, the army deputy chief of military intelligence said the main purpose of the centre is to gather intelligence on ADF activities and share it with member states for any possible action. Lt Gen Wilson Mbadi, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces said the launch of the follow up mechanism is testimony that regional heads are determined to put an end to the operations of the rebel group.
