Rotary Club of Mukono-Namilyango participates in annual Cancer Run

Mukono, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Rotary Club of Mukono-Namilyango made a significant impact at the annual Rotary Cancer Run, marking a milestone as it participated in the event for the first time since its recent charter. The club’s enthusiastic involvement was complemented by a community clean-up initiative in Seeta town, demonstrating its commitment to both health and environmental causes.

President of the Rotary Club of Mukono-Namilyango, Rotarian Mable Claire Nankya, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about cancer within the Ugandan community.

“Every Ugandan must play a role in combating this disease,” she stated.

“By uniting our efforts, we can make a substantial difference in the fight against cancer,”

Nankya also highlighted the club’s dedication to environmental sustainability. “As we work to promote cancer awareness, we must also address the pressing issue of climate change,” she said.

“Let us all strive to restore our environment and mitigate the effects of climate change, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.”

Rotarian Henry Luzinda, Past Assistant Governor, echoed Nankya’s call for environmental action.

“Our environment is a precious resource that requires our care and attention,” he said. “By actively participating in clean-up efforts and adopting environmentally friendly practices, we contribute to a healthier and more sustainable planet,”
