KIGALI | Xinhua | The National Electoral Commission (NEC) of Rwanda has announced that it will begin accepting nominations for the positions of president and members of the lower chamber of deputies from May 17-30.
“We have started training on electoral laws and regulations governing the presidential and lower chamber of deputies elections,” NEC executive secretary Charles Munyaneza told reporters Wednesday evening.
The commission has already released guidelines for the July 2024 presidential and lower chamber of deputies elections, he said.
A provisional list of approved candidates will be published on June 6, while the final list will be published on June 14, Munyaneza said.
Campaigning for the July 15 presidential and lower chamber of deputies will be conducted between June 22 and July 13, he said.
Rwandans living outside the country will cast their votes a day earlier, on July 14.
According to Munyaneza, provisional results of the presidential and lower chamber of deputies elections will be released no later than July 20, while the final results will be published no later than July 27. ■
