Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |The case against Israel for committing genocide in Gaza caused waves when it kicked off at the International Court of Justice. South Africa filed the case with what it termed as genocidal intent for Israel’s repeated bombing of houses, hospitals and shelters in Gaza killing tens of thousands of Palestinians.
South Africa’s lawyers laid out tonnes of evidence collected from Tiktoks, images and videos that have made rounds during Israel’s carnage and indiscriminate killing of Palestinians. Israel filed its defence but it was largely empty rhetoric as the Jewish nation tried to cover its tracks.
AFP reported that the court “has the benefit of the past 13 weeks of evidence that shows incontrovertibly a pattern of conduct and related intention” that amounts to “a plausible claim of genocidal acts,” South African lawyer Adila Hassim told the judges and audience in a packed room of the Peace Palace in The Hague
