The Court of Appeal on Wednesday cause listed dates for hearing the pending election appeals that arose from High Court decisions declaring several MPs’ seats vacant. This due to election malpractice and wanting academic qualifications.
Among the appeals to be heard is that of Busiro South MP Peter Ssematimba against Steven Sekigozi that has been set for November 21 before a penal of three Justices led by Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma.
Ssematimba is challenging the Kampala High Court decision which nullified his election on grounds of lack of the requisite academic qualifications.
Other appeals include Electoral Commission versus former Serere Woman MP Alice Alaso vs Hellen Adoa, and DP’s Richard Lumu against Mityana South MP Henry Kamya Makumbi among others that will also be heard between 15th and 23rd November.
