This was in Otafiire’s speech read by deputy attorney general Mwesigwa Rukutana at the opening of a new LDC in Mbarara recently. Otafiire noted that the government licensed many universities to teach law and that it would be unfair to block those students from accessing bar course training.

He added that LDC has the necessary measures to weed out those who unable to become advocates. The minister said that cabinet would table proposals to remove impediments to accessing the bar course. The Mbarara centre has 200 students. Plans are underway to open LDC centres in Lira and Mbale
