Three arrested in Mbale for alleged murder

Mbale, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Police in Mbale is holding three people for the alleged murder of Daphne Malemo, a 64-year old resident of Busoba parish, Busoba sub county in Mbale district.

According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the three whose names were not released so as not to jeopardize the investigation were arrested on Monday with the help of police sniffer dogs.

He adds that the body was found in a pool of blood by locals who alerted police. Taitika said the suspects are currently being detained at Mbale central police station as they await to take them to court.

Stephen Wanda, the LC I chairperson of Nabunywi village has condemned the act saying that the suspects could have been influenced by marijuana. He adds that with his committee, they are going to launch a crackdown on youths involved in smoking marijuana to prevent such cases in the area.
