Trump, Pelosi era could see fireworks in Washington

“And Pelosi will generate a revolt in her House caucus ranks if she gives in to Trump on much of anything,” he said. “Democrats were elected to check Trump and frustrate his objectives, period.”

Pelosi has served as speaker before with a Republican in the White House — George W. Bush — and is the first woman ever to hold the post.

But the 45th president is very different from the 43rd and Pelosi, who has spoken admiringly of the Bushes, is loath to compare the two.

“When you are negotiating with someone you have to… stipulate to some fact,” Pelosi told NBC of Trump.

“It’s hard to do that with the president because he resists science, evidence, truth,” Pelosi said. “It’s hard to pin him down on the facts.”

And how will Trump react to being forced to deal with a strong woman?

“I don’t know if he knows how to deal with women in power and women with strength,” Pelosi said. “We’ll see.

“Let’s hope for the best in that regard because, again, it is a new day for many people in Congress and in Washington DC.

“And in the country.”
